How it all began
Roland Kittmann, a graduate mathematician, founded his company “Technische Produkte Kittmann” in 1995 with the aim of realizing his own ideas.
These originally related to the automotive sector, as Roland Kittmann had worked there as a project manager for over 15 years. Several patents in the automotive sector laid the financial foundation for the development of the 1handLid lid.
For five years now, Technische Produkte Kittmann has been focusing on the further development of the 1handLid closure system. This has already resulted in series products in the food sector, which are being successfully implemented with a licensing partner.
Since 2024, the company has been concentrating on the cosmetics sector in order to market the many advantages of the 1handLid there as well.

Development and trade of products for the automotive industry and its suppliers in 1995
The products were and still are mechanical components for cable harnesses, hoses, and pipes in cars and trucks.
One partner was and still is SapiSelco in Padua, a cable tie manufacturer in the international market.

Closure caps and protective caps for the automotive industry (thermoforming process)
The patented closure lids and caps protect the openings of irregularly shaped component contours from dirt and dust (including assembly protection).
Various automobile manufacturers were and continue to be partners. First and foremost among these is Lehmann & Frommelt as a partner and supplier.

Sealed with the touch of a finger
Germans consume nearly 700,000 tons of yogurt per year. However, this also results in a flood of plastic waste. Roland Kittmann, a Bavarian mathematician and inventor from Reichertshausen, has calculated that Europe could save 250 tons of aluminum and around 500 tons of plastic per year if 125-gram yogurt cups were replaced with 500-gram yogurt cups.

Until now, supermarkets have only offered disposable plastic lids for sealing opened yogurt cups. This is a challenge for users in terms of dexterity and does not really prevent leakage.
With sustainability and usability in mind, the graduate mathematician was motivated to develop a reusable, waterproof, and very easy-to-use lid for 500-gram cups and containers with an opening diameter of 95 mm. After years of tinkering, the result was the patent-protected “1handLid.” A specially serrated clamping rim opens and closes when pressure is applied to the center of the lid.
The prototype phase of the project was supported by the Bavarian Innovation Voucher funding program. The approval of two standard innovation vouchers promoted the services of R&D partners in the field of injection molding and mold making from Saxony, Middle Franconia, and Baden-Württemberg. After almost 10 years of development work, several trials led from a single-component solution to a solution made of 2-component plastic that met the developer's quality requirements.
The “1handLid” lid will initially be marketed in the company's own online shop and through retail chains. There are also plans to grant licenses.
The biggest challenge was to ensure that the lid closed tightly when using a soft and a hard plastic material in the two-component injection molding process.
